Support for vulnerable people

Who is eligible for support?

Check In and Chat

People who may be:

  • in need of a friendly chat and some encouragement to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

Check In and Chat Plus

People who are vulnerable. They may be:

  • housebound/have little contact with others
  • anxious about leaving the house
  • recently discharged from hospital
  • in need of a friendly chat and some encouragement to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

Check In and Chat and Check In and Chat Plus are preventative activities there to support people in need of a friendly call and encouragement to improve their mental health and wellbeing. These volunteer activities are not designed to be treatment services and therefore anyone with complex vulnerabilities or needs would not be suitable to be referred into the scheme.

Examples where the service would not be appropriate:

  • People with complex mental health needs
  • People who are known to be suicidal
  • People with severe cognitive impairment
  • Referrals for those with drug addiction or alcohol dependency.

Community Response

Requests can be made for volunteers to support with essential shopping, prescription and lateral flow tests delivery if a person has a current health need.
