Privacy notice

In order to help NHS England cope with the pressures of the coronavirus crisis, Royal Voluntary Service has been appointed by NHS England to run the NHS Volunteer Responder Scheme. The NHS Volunteer Responder Scheme aims to recruit and deploy a network of volunteers throughout England who are willing and able to provide certain categories of support to individuals who are self-isolating for age or health related reasons or who otherwise fulfil the criteria for support set by NHS England.

This privacy notice is directed at individuals who use the website owned and operate by Royal Voluntary relating to the NHS Volunteer Responders Scheme nhsvolunteerresponders.org.uk. Its purpose is to provide information to individuals who use the website about:

  • who we are;
  • what personal data we collect via the website;
  • how we use that personal data and who we share it with;
  • your rights under data protection law

as well as other important privacy information.

Royal Voluntary Service has a legal obligation to make this information available to you under data protection law (including General Data Protection Regulation 2016 (‘GDPR’)), as Royal Voluntary Service will be the controller of personal data collected from individuals who use the NHS Volunteer Responder website.

Who we are

The Website is owned and operated by Royal Voluntary Service. As stated above, we are a company incorporated in England and Wales and a registered charity. You can find more information about us on our website royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk.

We collect, use and are responsible for certain personal data about you. When we do so we are regulated under the GDPR, which applies across the European Union and the United Kingdom and we are responsible as ‘controller’ of that personal data for the purposes of those laws.

Our collection and use of your personal data

The purpose of the Website is to provide you with information about the Scheme and how it works, in particular:

  • information for volunteers about the NHS Volunteer Responder role;
  • information for individuals about how to request support under the Scheme and the volunteer support available under the Scheme; and
  • information for organisations about how to make a referral on behalf of someone who needs support.

As such, we collect a very limited amount of limited personal data via the Website.

The personal data we collect via the Website is limited to:

  • your internet protocol address;
  • information we collect about your browsing activity and how you use the Website. We collect this information when you use and/or browse the Website using cookies and other technology embedded on our website. Further information about how we do this can be found in the section ‘COOKIES’ below and in our cookies policy;
  • any feedback you provide to us about your experiences using the Website (e.g. by ticking or filling in boxes on the Website). Please note that, when providing any such feedback, you will not be required to submit your name and contact details.

Each of the categories of information referred to above are unlikely to constitute personal data in their own right, but they may do so when combined. Please note that we will anonymise any such personal data before using it.
