An NHS Transport Volunteer provides essential support across the different NHS services, helping get vital supplies to sites. In this role you may find yourself completing several deliveries to different locations.

What does an NHS Transport Volunteer do?
You’ll be carrying out a number of key transportation and delivery services, such as:
Transporting equipment, supplies and medications between different NHS sites
You’ll be providing essential support in ensuring that NHS services are able to get vital equipment and medical supplies.
You may also be transporting testing and medical sample kits, including:
- Biological specimen kits and samples
- COVID-19 testing kits and trial medications

Helping pharmacies deliver medication to patients
You’ll be helping pharmacies by delivering essential prescriptions and medications to those who may otherwise struggle to get them.
For those individuals with mobility issues, or who may be shielding or self-isolating due to COVID-19, this is a vital service.
Helping Local Resilience Networks
You’ll also be helping Local Resilience Networks with transportation and delivery of items such as food parcels.
A large number of families have found their income impacted by COVID-19, as such there’s been an increase in need for supporting food parcels.
You’ll be helping to deliver these parcels to households that are self-isolating or are unable to pick up these parcels themselves.
Our NHS Transport Volunteers play a vital role in the transportation of supplies and ensuring NHS services and sites are equipped with the resources they need. Hygiene procedures will be very important in this role to ensure any risk of contamination is reduced.
